Safaricom has issued an urgent public advisory warning Kenyans to beware of fraudulent online platforms and links impersonating its official Ziidi Trader investment service.
The telecommunications company raised the alarm on Friday, July 17, following a surge in unauthorized websites and social media pages mimicking its branding to deceive users. Scammers are increasingly using these cloned platforms to trick unsuspecting investors into depositing funds or surrendering sensitive account credentials.
Safaricom emphasized that a single minute of verification could save customers from devastating financial losses.
“Are you thinking of investing through Ziidi Trader? Take a minute to verify first so you don’t lose your money in vain,” the company stated in an official advisory.
How to Safely Access the Real Ziidi Trader
To protect users from falling victim to these scams, Safaricom clarified that the legitimate investment service does not operate via external web links or independent social media channels.
The official service can only be accessed through the following secure channel:
- Platform: The official My OneApp mobile application.
- Location: Under the Financial Services section.
Customers are advised to download or update their official My OneApp from trusted app stores and complete the secure onboarding process directly within the application. Any platform offering the service outside of this specific app path is fraudulent and should be treated as suspicious.
