“Me and my uterus, we appreciate the time we spent with you in Kenya,” Akothee says in emotional goodbye.
Popular Kenyan musician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Esther Akoth Kokeyo, widely known as Akothee, has officially relocated abroad, marking the end of an era for one of Kenya’s most recognizable public figures.
The outspoken entertainer announced her departure through a series of emotional social media posts, revealing that she has now moved her last two daughters out of Kenya. The relocation fulfills a plan she had previously hinted at, as most of her children are already living overseas.
In a heartfelt farewell message, Akothee reflected on her journey in Kenya with her trademark humour and candour.
“Akothee the calculator. Nye Kenya, me and my uterus, we appreciate the time we spent with you in Kenya,” she wrote, thanking the country that shaped both her career and family life.
The post triggered an outpouring of reactions from fans, many expressing sadness at her departure while wishing her well in her new chapter. Others remained optimistic that she would eventually return home, emphasizing that Kenya will always remain part of her identity.
Health Scare Overshadows Relocation Plans
What was intended to be a routine trip to collect her daughters quickly turned into a medical emergency.
In a video shared online, Akothee revealed that she had flown back to Kenya specifically to pick up “the only two of my children remaining in this country” before relocating with them abroad.
However, shortly after arriving, she began experiencing severe lower back pain that rapidly worsened.
“Lower back pain is no joke,” she said, explaining that the condition became so serious that she struggled to move her left leg after something appeared to be pressing against her spinal cord.
The singer also disclosed that she suffered excessive bleeding and intense discomfort, forcing her to seek urgent medical attention. After arriving at a Nairobi hotel, she reportedly needed wheelchair assistance before being transferred to hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, she later reassured fans that her condition had stabilized.
“I am out of danger now,” she said, thanking those who supported her during the difficult period.
End of a Kenyan Chapter
Akothee’s departure leaves a noticeable gap in Kenya’s entertainment landscape. Over the years, she has built a reputation not only through her music career but also through business ventures, philanthropy, and her willingness to openly discuss personal and social issues.
Through the Akothee Foundation, she has supported vulnerable communities, while her entrepreneurial ventures in tourism and hospitality have expanded her influence beyond the entertainment industry.
As she begins life abroad with her daughters, the mother of five says she is embracing a fresh chapter while carrying Kenya with her.
She concluded her message with a simple note to her loyal supporters:
“I love you, my fans. Stay safe.”
