The rumors, which gained traction across online platforms on Saturday evening, September 5, 2026, sparked widespread concern among Kenyans, colleagues, and friends before being debunked.
Balala’s Official Statement
Releasing a public statement across his social media channels, Balala moved quickly to put the false reports to rest.
“I am well and in good spirits. I am aware of the misleading information that has been circulating, but I want to assure everyone that it is unfounded,” Balala stated.
He expressed appreciation to those who checked on him and offered prayers of thanksgiving for his protection:
“I thank the Almighty for His mercy and protection. Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel — I appreciate the concern and kind thoughts from friends and colleagues.”
To further reassure the public and counter the false narrative, Balala also posted a recent selfie on Instagram, visually confirming his well-being.

The viral claims were fueled in part by fabricated media cards—falsely designed with the branding of established media houses like Citizen Digital—that falsely reported the former minister had passed away following a battle with prostate cancer.
Balala did not validate or confirm any medical claims made in the posts, categorizing the entirety of the reports as groundless misinformation.
